BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. (AP) -- A man who fled a Kingman courtroom where he faced assault and domestic violence charges in January and was recaptured five days later has pleaded guilty to escape and three assault charges.
Darren Eugene Morrison pleaded guilty during a hearing in Mohave County Superior Court on Thursday.
The Mohave Valley Daily News reports the 27-year-old faces up to 8 1/2 years in prison when he is sentenced in November.
Morrison was attending a hearing on Jan. 18 when he used a key his wife hid in jury box chairs to unlock his handcuffs. He then fled the courtroom.
Ashley Anne Morrison pleaded guilty in July to conspiracy to commit escape and attempted forgery in a second case. She was sentenced in August to 15 month in prison.
