PHOENIX (AP) -- A former Arizona death row inmate has again been given the death sentence after being re-convicted in the 2001 murders of his wife and stepchildren.
A Maricopa County Superior Court jury reached the decision Thursday morning to sentence David Lamar Anthony to death for three counts of first-degree murder.
The 54-year-old Anthony was convicted on Aug. 28 for the second time of killing Donna Anthony and her two children in the Phoenix area. He was previously found guilty in 2002.
The bodies of all three were found in 2005 in barrels at a Buckeye construction site.
The Arizona Supreme Court overturned the verdict in 2008. The court said the trial judge erred in letting the prosecution argue that David Anthony had a motive to kill his family.
