YUMA, Ariz. -- The Yuma County Sheriff's Office has identified the two people who died in an apparent murder-suicide.

The sheriff’s office received a call early Wednesday morning from a woman who said her brother had told her that he had killed his girlfriend and was going to kill himself.

Deputies responded to a residence in the 11800 block of Calle Gaudi in Mesa Del Sol and established a perimeter around the property.

After failing to make contact with anyone inside the house, deputies sent in a robot through the back door.

The robot located a deceased male inside the home, and a deceased female in another room. Both had a gunshot wound.

The man has been identified as Robert C. Nelson, 36, of Yuma. According to The Associated Press, he was a U.S. Border Patrol agent. The woman has been identifed as Briana Kilty, 34, of Yuma.

Kilty's 11-year-old daughter was also found inside the house with no apparent injuries. She has been placed into temporary care by Child Protective Services.

While the case remains under investigation, authorities said it appears Nelson shot Kilty and then shot himself.
