LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. -- Deputies with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man earlier this week after discovering drugs, guns, and cash at a home in Litchfield Park.

Deputies responded on Monday after receiving a report of a suspicious person jumping a wall into a resident’s backyard.

When they arrived on the scene, deputies found a bag that contained 1.5 pounds of crystal meth, .82 pounds of heroin, and almost $20,000 in cash. They also found a loaded AR-15 assault rifle, a loaded .40 caliber handgun, and two framed pictures of a man with some children in a few trash bins.

Deputies learned that a man named Abraham Ortega-Leyva was reportedly seen near the trash bins. Ortega-Leyva looked like the man in the photos that were found in the trash, and matched the description of the man who was seen jumping into the backyard.

Police located Ortega-Leyva at a home at 13121 W. Citrus Way and took him into custody as he attempted to flee the residence.

Following his arrest, MCSO deputies said Ortega-Leyva admitted to being in the country illegally.

Ortega-Leyva was booked into the 4th Avenue Jail, and is facing several felony charges.
