Teddy Bear DayPosted: Updated:
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- You can make a big difference on Saturday, Sept. 8, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., in Historic Downtown Glendale by donating a teddy bear. It's Teddy Bear Day and the goal of the event is to collect as many teddy bears as possible. The donated bears are provided to Glendale Fire Department Trauma Teddy Program, the Glendale Crisis Response Team and United Way, to comfort young children who have been affected by a traumatic event. Last year firefighters collected 1600 bears and hopes this year will be even bigger and better.
The city has teamed up with local businesses in downtown and will have lots of things to do for you and your family. "Al the Bear" will be available for pictures, you'll also be able to make-and-take arts and crafts, special treats and exclusive deals will be on hand. At the Visitor Center, participants can also take a spin on the prize wheel, and can contribute a new teddy bear.
