PHOENIX -- Deputies from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spent the day searching for a man who disappeared while tubing on the Salt River on Sunday.

Joshua Williams, 21, was last seen at about 6 p.m. when he became separated from the group he was floating with down the river.

Deputies said the group came around a curve and Williams vanished.

"We've got a huge group out here today," said Officer Christopher Hegstrom. "We're searching by land. We're searching in the water and we're searching by air...every passing moment doesn't look good but we will continue to search until they've checked every area possible."

Joshua is described as a black male, 6 feet, 3 inches tall, 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black jean shorts, and black tennis shoes.

"It is dangerous," said Hegstrom. "One of the things you have to do is take precautions when you come out on the river."
