Girl, 3, drowned in backyard swimming poolPosted: Updated:
MESA, Ariz. -- Sunday was another deadly day in Valley pools.
A 3-year-old girl was pulled from a pool near Alma School and Southern Sunday evening, after she and her parents went to a friend's home for a holiday barbecue.
Mesa police said several adults were with the little girl, now identified as Faith Parent. Faith was swimming with floaties before everyone got out of the pool to eat.
An adult removed her floaties so she could eat. Faith managed to slip back in the water.
Police said she may have been underwater anywhere from three to five minutes before she was found.
An official on scene said the pool wasn't green, but it wasn't completely clear either, and the murky water may have made it a little difficult to see the girl.
The boyfriend of Faith's mother dove into the pool and found her at the bottom. He pulled her out and one of the adults started CPR.
Faith was taken to Cardon Children's Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
While the investigation is ongoing, police said they do not plan to recommend criminal charges for Faith's parents, according to Sgt. Tony Landato.
That drowning call was one of several over the holiday weekend.
On Saturday in Buckeye, Ariz., a 5-year-old boy fell into his backyard pool and drowned.
Also on Saturday, a 9-year-old was found at the bottom of a swimming pool in Phoenix, and in Mesa a 2-year-old was found floating in spa in the backyard of a home.
