The 8th Annual Phoenix Cooks! will ignite your appetite TODAY at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa. Phoenix Cooks! A colorful landscape of ingredients, products, talents and passions designed to intrigue the palette and zest for culinary experiences, while supporting Phoenix Children's Hospital.

Details: Join more than 3,000 Valley food and beverage enthusiasts in a culinary wonderland this Labor Day at the 8th annual Phoenix Cooks! Taste, sip, and socialize with more than 50 of the best local chefs and restaurants providing unique delicacies found exclusively in our backyard. With more than 30 wine, beer and mixology sampling booths, Phoenix Cooks! is sure to quench your thirst. Learn from the experts through Phoenix Cooks! cooking classes to become a master chef at home. Watch the experts as they prepare their specialty dishes live and compete in duels, all heating up four cooking stages.

Tickets: $90 at the door. Include the full day of food, wine, beer and spirit sampling along with the non-stop stage demonstrations all day until 3pm.

Recipe for the Dish

 Espresso rub -
1/4 cup espresso beans grounded
1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon of cayenne
1/4 cup olive oil
teaspoon of each salt, pepper, garlic powder

Fig Sauce
6 fresh figs - rough chop
1 cup red wine
5 sprigs of fresh tarragon
2 teaspoons of granulated sugar
1/4 cup of barbecue sauce

10 oz. Filet Mignon
coat with rub, cook to desired temperature, top with sauce

1 cup chorizo
1 roasted potato chopped and diced
saute together with salt, pepper and garlic

Salsa Frita
Chili Ve Arbol
2 tomatillos, 1 tomato, 8 garlic cloves, 5 fresh figs
Blend together
