Phoenix weather: Weekend forecastPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A bit of a “window” is opening for a decent chance for rain in the Valley beginning Saturday and lasting into Sunday morning.
Besides that, it appears the Labor Day holiday weekend will be rather dry around metro Phoenix. Temperatures should be about average for this time of year with highs just over 100 degrees. The highest chance for measurable rain around Phoenix is about 30 percent, so still, only a one-in-three chance we'll see rain.
It also looks like most of the rain will be in southern and western Arizona. That's sort of a flip-flop from the “normal” monsoon pattern where most of the storms are in eastern Arizona. In fact, southern California is looking at better chances for rain, again, than Arizona, and that's really strange for this time of year.
Next week is also looking pretty dry with seasonal temperatures. And while the monsoon doesn't officially end until the end of September, we do see a significant drop-off in storms after the first week of the month.
