SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. -- Police officers in Sierra Vista spent Thursday morning trying to round up a bear.

Officers on routine patrol spotted the bear near the intersection of Golf Links Road and Hummingbird Lane at approximately 6:30 a.m., according to the Sierra Vista Police Department.

Arizona Game and Fish advised police to keep visual contact with the bear and try to herd it out of the city.

Officers followed the bear and saw it enter washes and jump brick walls into residents' yards.

After about three hours, an officer in a quad was finally able to herd the bear across Buffalo Soldier Trail and into an area that leads into open desert and mountains on Fort Huachuca.

Cpl. Scott Borgstadt said no one was injured and no property damage has been reported.
