CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Police said they have caught a serial burglar who has been targeting cellular phone stores in west Chandler since April.

Mark Anthony Voglio, 22, was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on eight counts of third-degree burglary and one count each of possession of burglary tools and possession of stolen property.

Police said Voglio committed eight separate burglaries at AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile stores.

"During the burglaries, the suspect used the same modus operandi, wore similar clothing, and carried a unique green backpack," Chandler police spokesman Detective Seth Tyler said in a news release.

On Monday, a patrol sergeant spotted Voglio walking in the area of Chandler Boulevard and Price Road wearing a green backpack.

Tyler said Voglio voluntarily emptied the contents of his backpack, revealing items used to commit burglaries including gloves, wire cutters and a large river rock.

Investigators believe Voglio, a transient, committed the burglaries to support a daily spice habit.
