ROOSEVELT LAKE, Ariz. -- The man wanted in connection with a homicide in the town of Eagar has been apprehended.

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday that Gabriel Jaramillo, 57, is in their custody.

The Sheriff's Office said they received a report from a boater who claimed that Jaramillo had approached their party while they were swimming on the north side of Roosevelt Lake.

The boater told deputies that Jaramillo was dirty and seeking water. Jaramillo then jumped in the lake, while the boater left the area and called authorities.

Deputies were able to locate Jaramillo and placed him under arrest.

Jaramillo’s medical condition is unknown pending a medical examination.

A manhunt near Roosevelt Lake began last Sunday after Jaramillo took police on a high-speed chase.

He was first spotted last Saturday night in Miami, Arizona. Authorities then chased Jaramillo from Globe to Roosevelt Lake on Highway 188, exchanging fire along the way.

Jaramillo, who may have been wounded during the chase, was eventually able to lose police somewhere near Roosevelt Lake.

Jaramillo has a previous criminal history that includes charges of armed robbery, kidnapping and burglary
