PHOENIX -- A former security guard at Tempe High School has been convicted of stealing more than $1,000 from the school.

On Tuesday, a jury found Kimmie Dwayne Baker guilty of burglary and theft. He is due to be sentenced on October 4.

Baker was arrested last October after he entered Tempe High School’s administration building and stole money that was generated from a football game.

The cash was located in a locked closet, which only a few people had a key to.

Baker, who had worked at the school for almost 20 years, denied having a key to the closet. However, during a search of his home authorities found a closet key tucked into the leather cover of his bible.
