Melquiades Galvan (L) and Stewart Galligan (R) By Andrew Michalscheck
EL MIRAGE, Ariz. -- Two men are facing criminal charges after a woman’s car was broken into in El Mirage.
On Thursday morning, a woman stopped at a gas station in the area of 12100 N. El Mirage Road and went inside the store.
When the woman exited the store she saw that her car window had been broken. She also spotted a man walking away from the vehicle with several of her items in his hands.
The man fled the gas station in a vehicle, but surveillance video was able to capture an image of the car.
Later that day, El Mirage Police saw the vehicle in the 12500 block of N. 123rd Drive. Inside the car they found Melquiades Galvan, 37, and Stewart Galligan, 33.
Police were reportedly able to see evidence from the burglary earlier that day inside the car. After obtaining a search warrant, El Mirage detectives also found items from several other burglaries inside the vehicle, as well as a handgun.
Authorities were able to tie Galligan to the burglary at the gas station, and are still trying to determine if he’s connected to other burglaries.
Galligan was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on several charges, including burglary and theft.
Galvan was also arrested on multiple charges, including possession of burglary tools and driving on a suspended license.
