PHOENIX -- After a warm and sticky weekend, Valley residents can expect more of the same as we head into a new week.
Temperatures around town were in the 80s Monday morning, with relative humidity at bout 50 percent.
This afternoon, look for highs around 106 degrees under partly sunny skies.
There is a slight chance of storms by tonight, with an increasing chance for monsoon activity over the next couple of days. As high pressure currently centered over Arizona shifts to our east, monsoon moisture from the south will increase over Arizona. Storm chances are best in the Valley Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
By Thursday, afternoon highs are only expected to top out near 99 degrees. It won't last long though, temperatures will start to climb as storm chances decrease heading into next weekend.
