Car wash to raise reward money for son's killerPosted: Updated:
MESA, Ariz. -- It was 11 p.m. on the night of July 25th. Gunshots rang out in a Mesa tri-plex near Mesa Dr. and Brown.
Mesa officers arrived to find 26-year-old David Cruz shot to death inside his apartment. Nearly a month later, investigators have little clues as to what happened or who did it.
On Saturday, Cruz's family held a car wash to raise reward money through Silent Witness.
"We don't know if it was a break-in or what," said Elizabeth Cruz, David's mother. "All we know is that three people fled the scene, that's all we know."
Cruz described her 26-year-old son as a lover of music and animals.
"He had the kindest heart," said Elizabeth Cruz.
David was a music producer and had dreams of opening up dance studio for underprivileged kids.
The shock still hits this grieving mother.
"It's a nightmare. No parent wants to bury their child. They're suppose to be burying us," she said as she held back tears.
Elizabeth Cruz wants answers and she wants justice.
