PHOENIX -- There’s a new bike helmet on the market that is attempting to combine style with safety.

The helmet looks like a turtleneck, but underneath the collar is an airbag that deploys on impact.

Swedish designers Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin came up with the concept, which operates on rechargeable batteries.

Haupt and Alstin said they were inspired to create the helmet when Sweden passed a law requiring everyone under the age of 15 to wear a helmet while biking.

“Producing a bicycle helmet that people would be happy to put on looked like a much better way to go than legislation forcing people to wear one or else,” the pair explains on their website.

Wearing Haupt and Alstin’s helmet isn’t cheap. It retails for around $600.
