PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. -- Seven-year-old Dakota Clarke has autism, she’s battling a rare form of cancer, and someone has stolen her cancer donation jars from Walgreens on two separate occasions.
The family’s insurance has maxed out, and they set out donation jars inside several businesses to help raise money for Dakota’s care.
In July, someone stole one of those donation jars from the Walgreens at 3111 West Hunt Highway. The sheriff’s department may have found that suspect.
Then on August 8, another suspect stole a second donation jar from the Walgreens at 333 East Hunt Highway.
“Last time I wasn’t mad, but this time I was mad,” said Dakota’s mother Kim.
Her father Jason added, “I just couldn’t believe that someone would stoop that low to do that.”
Several hundred dollars were stolen.
Now, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Department has released new video of the second suspect. They say he took the second tip jar from the East Hunt Highway Walgreens, but two days earlier stole beer from the West Hunt Highway location.
In both videos, he was wearing the same green t-shirt with white markings.
“We need help from the community,” said Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu.
The suspect is described as a white male, aged 18-22, with very short blonde or brown hair, and a tattoo on his calf.
The Sheriff suspects this man may have committed other crimes.
“Our experience in law enforcement is that people usually commit dozens of crimes most of the time before we can apprehend them,” said Sheriff Babeu, “If he has these boundaries that he has already crossed, like stealing from a tip jar and stealing beer, then what else is he doing in our community?”
Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call the Pinal County Sheriff’s Department at (520) 866-5111.
