Lightning strike causes class cancellation at school

MESA, Ariz. -- Storm damage has been repaired, and students at the Imagine Charter School in East Mesa are expected to be able to return to class on Thursday.
Lightning struck a transformer on the campus during wild weather overnight Tuesday.
"We were very fortunate that it just struck a transformer. It basically just zapped the power and gave us an outage. SRP worked in conjunction with us, very, very quickly, and got on-scene. We were able to get the power back on, so we're fully functioning at this point, and able to get back in business," said principal April Blatzheim.
About 700 students attend the charter school. None of them, or any members of the faculty and staff were hurt.
There was similar damage, and at least one house fire, attributed to the storm.
