PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - Newly released surveillance video shows an incident that got a Maricopa County juvenile detention officer arrested.

The video shows Ross Martin push the head of a 13-year-old inmate into a wall then throw him to the ground.

The boy's mother said her son may have been mouthing off, but he didn't deserve what he got.

"I feel that these guards should know how to handle the situation," she said. "I'm sure that's not the first smart*** they dealt with. It won't be the last smart*** they deal with."

The teenage inmate went to the hospital and was diagnosed with a concussion.

Martin was booked on one count of aggravated assault on a minor and released on his own recognizance.
