Man sentenced for relationship with high school studentPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A Valley man has been sentenced to a year behind bars for having a sexual relationship with a high school student.
On Friday, Brian Bizzell also received three counts of lifetime probation with sex offender terms.
Bizzell was arrested back in December on charges of sexual conduct with a minor, luring a minor for sexual exploitation, and aggravated luring a minor for sexual exploitation.
Bizzell was a band, choir and drama teacher at Estrella Foothills High School when he began having a relationship with a 17-year-old girl.
A student at the school learned of the relationship after finding a cell phone in a classroom. While looking through the phone to try to determine the owner, the student discovered sexually explicit messages between Bizzell and a female student.
The female student went on to reveal that she and Bizzell had sexual encounters during school hours on school property, as well as incidents outside of school.
The girl also told police that she had sent and received sexually explicit messages via text message and Skype.
