Flagstaff man hit, killed by trainPosted: Updated:
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- A 26-year-old Flagstaff man died after being hit by a train Wednesday night.
Police officers had been looking for Ned Sherman Dugi for about an hour Wednesday before he was hit in the 2000 block of East Route 66 at approximately 10:30 p.m.
Flagstaff police Sgt. James Jackson said Dugi had been involved in an altercation earlier in the night and nearly struck family members with his car as he fled a nearby business.
Staff members aboard the train told police that they saw a shadow in front of the train but believed that it was an animal. When the realized it was actually a person who was crawling into the path of the train, it was too late to sound the horn.
Officers and investigators are still looking into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
