PHOENIX -- After the hottest day of the year so far, the Valley of the Sun will see another scorcher Thursday.

Wednesday's afternoon high of 116 degrees shattered the old record for that date, 113 degrees, set back in 1991. Thursday's record high is 112, set back in 2003, and it looks likely we'll break that with a forecast high of 113 degrees.

Look for partly sunny skies with a slight chance of thunderstorms and blowing dust. The Excessive Heat Warning continues through Sunday, with afternoon highs expected near 112 degrees through the weekend. Storms should be limited to the high country over the weekend but become more likely in the Valley by next week.

The Valley is under a High Pollution Advisory for high levels of ozone Thursday and likely Friday, too. People with a sensitive respiratory system are encouraged to limit their time outside today, and everyone is encouraged to carpool and refuel after dark.
