QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. -- Two former employees were caught robbing a Dunkin' Donuts in Queen Creek early Monday morning, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
A passing motorist called 911 at about 2 a.m. and reported that two men dressed in black were pointing guns at employees inside the store near Rittenhouse and Power roads, according to MCSO spokesman Officer Christopher Hegstrom.
Sheriff's deputies arrived and found Jerett T. Dowland, 18, and Richard Villalobos, 22, still committing robbery and holding three employees at gunpoint.
Deputies took both suspects into custody. They were booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on felony charges, including armed robbery and kidnapping.
During the investigation, deputies found that both suspects have ties to Dunkin' Donuts. Villalobos was a shift leader at this same store and Dowland was just recently let go from a Dunkin' Donuts store in Tempe for allegedly stealing credit card numbers.
"That motorist should be commended for doing their part in reporting crime and helping to catch these suspects in the act of committing a crime," Sheriff Joe Arpaio said.
