SURPRISE, Ariz. -- A 67-year-old woman has been arrested for using counterfeit money at yard sales in Surprise over the past several months, according to police.
Susan Patterson, of Peoria, will be facing felony charges for eight counts of forgery and one count of fraudulent schemes.
Surprise police Sgt. Bert Anzini said there have been eight victims since February.
Police learned the identity of the woman after she was positively identified by her victims.
Police arrested Patterson after she gave a counterfeit bill to a victim at a yard sale on Saturday. Additional counterfeit bills were found in her possession and in her car.
Surprise police and the United States Secret Service are now investigating to determine the origin of the counterfeit money.
