Carefree Highway (State Route 74) reopened, speed limit reducedPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- The Arizona Department of Public Safety reports that Carefree Highway has been reopened from Interstate 17 to Lake Pleasant Parkway following last night's flooding.
The speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph at one location affected by storm runoff.
As a safety precaution, the speed limit is reduced to 35 mph in one low-lying area approximately two miles west of I-17 where a small amount of runoff is flowing across the pavement. Drivers are urged to obey traffic signs and slow down in the area.
The highway was shut down last night after several vehicles became stranded in the runoff from heavy rain.
