PHOENIX -- The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a Flash Flood Warning for north central Maricopa County until 8:15 p.m.

National weather service meteorologists detected Thunderstorms producing very heavy rain that will cause flash Flooding. Trained spotters in anthem report one and one half inches of rain have fallen in the last 45 minutes.

Curb to curb street Flooding has been reported in Anthem and rain continues to fall.

Runoff will continue to flow into Deadman Wash and Skunk Creek and Ponding of water will occur on local roadways in the area and on Interstate 17.

There is also a severe weather warning for Sky Harbor Airport until 7:00 p.m.

The warning was issued because of lightning observed within 10 miles of the airport.

Isolated thunderstorms were popping up around the Phoenix metro area on Tuesday evening bringing strong wind gusts and heavy rain to some areas.

The storms show the potential for producing hail.

The latest severe thunderstorm warning covers the vicinity around Camelback Mountain, Paradise Valley, East Phoenix, and Scottsdale.

A funnel cloud was spotted over the Valley, but it did not touch down.

The storms have left behind some street flooding in the northeast valley. The intersection of 7th Street and Deer Valley Road was underwater during rush hour.

There are also reports of power outages.

Heavy storms also moved through the Anthem area and hit Interstate 17 north or Phoenix.
