Three minors injured in car crash

ANTHEM, Ariz. -- Three minors were seriously injured on Friday night after getting into a car accident in Anthem.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Anthem Way and Freedom Way just before 9 p.m. after a vehicle crashed through a median.

Witnesses said the car was going above the speed limit of 35 mph when the accident occurred. The vehicle went approximately 50 yards past the median before eventually coming to a stop.

The driver sustained what appeared to be life threatening injuries and was flown to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The other two individuals in the car were taken by ambulance to Phoenix Children’s Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening.

Investigators said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation.
