TEMPE, Ariz. -- A Goodyear man is behind bars for allegedly sexually assaulting a man he helped raise.

On Tuesday afternoon, Michael White, 49, was arrested in Tolleson in connection with an ongoing sexual assault investigation conducted by Tempe Police.

Last Sunday evening, Tempe Police received a call from an adult victim who claimed that he had been sexually assaulted by White. The victim told authorities that he had considered White to be his foster father while he was growing up.

Tempe Police investigated the case and were able to gather additional information and evidence. They believe that the alleged incidents between White and the victim took place while they were living together at White’s home in Phoenix and possibly Goodyear.

White spent more than 15 years as a school social worker at Tolleson High School. He is currently employed by the City of Tolleson in the Community Services Department where he works with kids and the elderly.

White is being held without bond at the 4th Avenue Jail on two counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual conduct with a minor. Additional charges could be filed.

Police said there may also be additional victims. Anyone with any information is being asked to call the Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311.
