YUMA, Ariz. -- Yuma Border Patrol Agents seized 2.5 pounds of heroin and nearly 25 pounds of marijuana Monday at a checkpoint in southwestern Arizona.
It happened at the Interstate 8 checkpoint at mile marker 17. Agents say the driver of a four-door sedan was told to go to secondary inspection after a canine team alerted, indicating there might be something suspicious in the vehicle.
During the consented search, agents discovered black tar heroin and marijuana.
The heroin is valued at more than $33,000 and the marijuana is worth $12,000.
The drugs, the suspect, who is a U.S. citizen, and the car were turned over to the Yuma County Narcotics Task Force.
