PHOENIX -- A Phoenix couple is picking up the pieces after an alleged drunk driver plowed through the front of their home early Thursday morning.

It happened near 21st Avenue and Indian School.

Wade Lee Richards said he and his husband were awakened by a loud bang and discovered a Hyundai SUV was almost entirely in their front room.

It's a room Richards used as a creative studio and set for photography for his hair and make-up business.

"It's frustrating, it's heartbreaking," he said of the damage. He estimates up to $8,000 worth of supplies and photography equipment were damaged.

And what's even more frustrating, is that the driver took off.

Richards said the scene reeked of alcohol.

He's thankful no one was hurt and wants to remind people about the dangers of drinking and driving, so he created a Youtube video (see below) with footage of the accident.

"This is a reminder that things are replaceable, but people are not," he says in the video. "If you are going to drink this July 4 holiday, have a designated driver."
