PHOENIX -- A retired member of the United States Air Force got to celebrate the 4th of July with a new ride.

Retired Master Sgt. John Day’s patriotic spirit made him the winner of a brand new Ford Focus on Wednesday.

Day was the winning finalist in 3TV and San Tan Ford’s Facebook contest, which asked people to explain why they’re proud to be American in 100 words or less.

“Proudest day of my life so far, 25 years in the military, this is all fantastic,” said Day.

Day’s two fellow finalists were also rewarded for their efforts, as they each received $500 gift cards.

San Tan Ford's General Manager, Tim Hovik, said they were more than happy to celebrate the 4th of July by giving away a car.

"Ford's been kind of the backbone of Americana, and what a way to celebrate, giving away a Ford Focus on the 4th," Hovik stated.
