PHOENIX -- A pregnant mother of eight is dead, found shot behind the wheel of her truck. Investigators are looking for the person who shot her.

Phoenix police responding to a call of shots fired found a white pickup truck still running but stopped in the middle of the street near 29th Avenue and Washington shortly after 2:30 Tuesday morning.

“Upon checking that pickup truck our officers found a female slumped over in driver seat who appears to be shot several times,” said Phoenix Police Sgt. Trent Crump.

That woman was 32-year-old Joann Lopez, a pregnant mother of 8.

“She loved kids, she loved kids a lot she was a good beautiful person,” said Joann’s sister Yolanda Rodriguez.

Police believe Lopez was actually shot while in front of a house party a few doors down from where she was found but police say the people at the party and home are not cooperating.

Lopez's family believes she was dropping off a friend at the party and that’s when she was shot multiple times in the head and torso.

The question is, who would do such a thing and why?

“She was a wonderful person she didn't deserve this,” said Rodriguez. “Hopefully someone in the neighborhood will call Silent Witness.”

If you know anything about this case you can call Silent Witness and remain anonymous.

Police said they are awaiting autopsy results, because, if in fact Joann Lopez was pregnant that could be a second homicide charge that this shooter will face.
