Phoenix weather: Monsoon ramping up statewidePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- The National Weather Service has increased the chances for rain on July Fourth in metro Phoenix to 50 percent and most of our models say we should get up to a 1/2 inch of rain in many locations around the Valley.
That being said, as of 2 p.m. on Tuesday it's not a lock. There's still a bunch of things that can happen in the atmosphere that would result in Phoenix not seeing much thunderstorm activity at all.
The chances for rain will be on the increase tonight through tomorrow and at this point, it looks like things will be calming down around fireworks time. Of course, if it's windy, that could present problems for some of the local shows.
