PHOENIX -- The original vehicles driven by Batman in Christopher Nolan's the "Dark Knight" trilogy cruised into Phoenix on Monday in celebration of the highly anticipated release of "The Dark Knight Rises."

On Monday, The public got the chance to see The Tumbler and the Bat-Pod vehicles firsthand at the Christown Spectrum Mall Walmart at 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road and at Desert West Park at 67th and Virginia avenues.

The high-powered vehicles also will be showcased from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, at The "Light Up The Sky" event, at Maryvale Stadium, 3600 N. 51st Avenue.

"This event will give the public a chance to see two of the coolest cars in movie history in person, and then watch them again on the big screen," said Phoenix City Councilman Michael Nowakowski.

On July 4, the tour will end in the Valley in Tempe at the Harkins Theatres at Tempe Marketplace, 2000 East Rio Salado Parkway. The vehicles will be on display there from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Both the Tumbler, Batman's Batmobile, and the Bat-Pod, Batman's motorcycle, have served as modes of transportation for Batman in Christopher Nolan's earlier blockbusters-with The Tumbler first appearing in "Batman Begins," and the Bat-Pod being introduced in "The Dark Knight."

They will both be featured in different ways in the hugely anticipated finale to Nolan's Batman trilogy.

"The Dark Knight Rises," opens in theaters on Friday, July 20.
