SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Scottsdale police said a suspect carjacked a vehicle then caused a multi-car collision Friday afternoon.

Sgt. Mark Clark said John Brigham, 45, was involved in a collision at Hayden Road and Via de Ventura in Scottsdale. He got out of his car and took off all his clothes then began yelling and chanting. Brigham also jumped on the roof of a car.

Clark said Brigham pulled the female driver out of a Toyota Prius and fled in the vehicle.

He drove the victim's car down Shea Boulevard and was involved in a collision with four other vehicles at 90th Street. Police said Brigham may have been going eastbound in the westbound lanes.

Clark said Brigham tried to carjack two more cars before an officer stopped him and took him into custody.

"The violence and the damage that was caused indicates that it was pretty high speeds involved," Clark said.

One of the people at the first accident scene was transported to a hospital in serious condition. A pregnant woman at the second scene was taken to a hospital and is listed in serious condition.
