CHANDLER, Ariz. -- An 11-year-old on a bicycle was hit by a car and killed Friday afternoon. The driver left the scene.

It happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. in the southbound lane of Arizona Avenue and Knox Road, just south of Warner Road. That's near Espee Park and Chandler Bike Park.

Authorities said the child, Aaron Arnold, was crossing Arizona Avenue outside of the crosswalk when he was hit. Witnesses told police that the driver of the vehicle fled the area with Arnold and his bike still in the road.

Investigators have located the vehicle believed to have been involved, and have questioned someone who may have been a part of the accident.

No arrests have been made.
