PHOENIX -- A Mesa man was sentenced Wednesday to 24 years in prison for beating his young daughter with a computer power cord.

George Kuykendall, 33, also was sentenced to lifetime probation.

As part of a plea agreement, Kuykendall pleaded guilty to two counts of child abuse.

Kuykendall was arrested in June 2010 after his girlfriend took the then 4-year-old girl to a relative's home. Someone noticed the severity of the girl's injuries and took her to a hospital.

The child had cuts all over her body, some going all the way to muscle tissue.
