SUN CITY, Ariz. -- The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man who might have information about an early morning fire at a West Valley home.

It happened very early Tuesday morning at 99th Avenue and Desert Rock Drive, which is between Greenway and Bell roads in Sun City.

According to neighbors, a man in his 50s had been living at the home -- on the back porch -- since his mother died about two years ago.

It's not clear why he stayed out there, but neighbors said they never saw lights on inside the house, which reportedly is fully furnished, and they have never heard an air-conditioner running, even during the recent extremely hot days.

Firefighters believe the fire started on the back porch and had been burning for quite some time before they arrived on the scene.

Firefighters from both Peoria and Sun City responded to the call and were able to get the fire under control, but not before a Peoria firefighter suffered heat exhaustion. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover.

No other injuries were reported and firefighters did not find anybody inside the home.

Crews were able to contain to the damage to that one home.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

MCSO has not released any information about the man for whom they are looking.
