Teen injured while boating on Lake PowellPosted: Updated:
LAKE POWELL, Ariz. -- A 14-year-old Tucson boy was seriously injured Monday while boating on Lake Powell.
Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputies said the teen suffered two lacerations to his right leg from a boat propeller while knee boarding.
The boy was attempting to get back into the boat when his shorts are believed to have gotten stuck in the propeller.
A medical doctor was fortunately nearby and able to provide medical assistance on scene. The boy was airlifted from Navajo Canyon and taken to the Page Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
Officials said people can reduce accidents on the water by taking precautions like learning to swim, avoiding alcohol, and using common sense.
