PEORIA, Ariz. -- An 18-year-old is accused of shooting a Peoria man with a shotgun loaded with birdshot Sunday night.
Levi Florida was booked into Fourth Avenue Jail for aggravated assault.
According to Peoria police spokesman Jay Davies, Florida shot the 23-year-old man in the back at Sundance Park near Cholla Street and 71st Avenue around 11 p.m.
The victim ran to his home a few blocks away and called 911. He gave police a suspect description and officers located Florida walking in the area of Peoria and 72nd avenues still carrying the shotgun.
The victim was hospitalized due to multiple wounds from the birdshot, including at least one that penetrated his lung.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation, but police believe there is a connection between the suspect and victim.
