PHOENIX -- The Valley gets a slight break from the heat today with forecast highs only a couple degrees above average for this time of year, topping out near 108 degrees.

Monday was our hottest day of the year so far with a high of 112 and an Excessive Heat Warning.

There are no watches or warnings for the heat today, although an Excessive Heat Watch is in effect for the Valley for both Wednesday and Thursday. Both afternoons should see temperatures soar to about 112 degrees.

Overnight lows will dip to the 70s under clear skies.

The air mass stays dry and skies will stay sunny through the end of the week.

On Friday, a surge of monsoon moisture is forecast from the south, bringing at least a slight chance of afternoon and evening storms on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Yesterday's Ozone Health Watch has been continued through today. Ozone levels are expected to approach unhealthy levels, and breathing can become difficult. Carpool if you can and refuel after dark.
