Heat warning issued for parts of Arizona, Calif.Posted: Updated:
The warning will be in effect from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, and includes the Phoenix area, Yuma, Parker, and far southeastern California.
The agency expects near-record temperatures at or above 113 degrees in most locations covered by the warning.
Heat stroke and other health problems are more likely at such high temperatures, especially for the homeless and elderly.
The agency urges the public to avoid strenuous activities outdoors, drink plenty of water wearing light and loose clothing.
