One dead following Phoenix motorcycle accident

PHOENIX -- One person died and another was taken to the hospital in critical condition following a motorcycle accident early Saturday morning.

Phoenix Police said two people were traveling westbound in the area of 2200 West Lone Cactus Drive when the driver lost control and hit the curb.

Both the driver and the passenger were ejected from the motorcycle. They were not wearing helmets.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Police said there are indications that impairment may have been a factor in the crash.
