PD: Man stabs cousin during drunken fight in Tempe

TEMPE, Ariz. -- A 20-year-old man faces a second-degree murder charge after he allegedly stabbed his cousin Thursday night in Tempe.

Cody Lydell Hasgood of Piñon, Ariz., and his 21-year-old cousin, Lane Yazzie, were intoxicated and got into a fight at Yazzie's apartment complex near Southern Avenue and Priest Drive around 10 p.m.

Tempe police said Hasgood stabbed Yazzie in the upper body then fled.

Officers quickly located Hasgood and took him into custody.

Tempe firefighters treated the victim and transported him to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Hasgood was booked into Tempe City Jail for second-degree murder.
