"Rip-Crew" indicted for trying to steal marijuanaPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Several Tucson residents have been charged with attempting to steal more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana from a semi-tractor trailer that was under FBI surveillance.
On June 7, a federal ground jury returned a two-count superseding indictment against members of an alleged “rip-crew.”
The group was indicted for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana and attempting to possess with intent to distribute marijuana.
Those who were indicted include Lisa Ann Martinez, 36; David Rene Martinez, 39; Ruben Metzler Martinez, 35; Carlos Alberto Miranda, 30; Joseph Ryan Echevarria, 31; Marcos Cruz, 30; Alejandro Carlon Mendoza, 33; Mark Anthony Garcia, 44; and Cesar Othon, 34.
Both charges carry a sentence between five and 40 years in prison, and a $5 million fine.
