PHOENIX -- Two parrots were stolen from an exotic bird store in Phoenix and the owners are asking for the public's help to catch the "Birdie Bandits."

Dawn Lenzner, one of the owners of Tropic Zone near Seventh Street and Greenway Parkway, said two Hispanic males took the baby Senegal parrots at about 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Lenzner said surveillance video (see video above) shows the suspects putting the birds under their shirts then walking out with them.

The birds are about 3 months old, not fully weaned and are still being hand-fed. Lenzner said the birds require a special diet and are fed through a syringe so it's critical that they are found.

The birds are each worth about $500.

A cash reward is being offered for the birds' safe return.

Anyone with information about the parrots can call the store at 602-493-7387.
