PHOENIX -- A Tempe man has pleaded guilty in an attack on an employee at a Phoenix resort in December.
Michael Robert Martinez pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempted kidnapping and attempted sexual assault. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 18.
The 30-year-old victim told police that she was attacked while in the bathroom at the Arizona Grand Resort, which is located in a separate building from her office.
The woman said the man burst inside the restroom while she was washing her hands. She was knocked to the floor during the attack but was able to escape. Security detained Martinez until police arrived.
The managing director of the resort said Martinez was neither an employee nor a guest at the resort.
