SURPRISE, Ariz. -- A Valley father is charged with child abuse after forcing his underage boys to drink alcohol as punishment.
Police say Kristopher Harvey, 32, discovered that his boys - ages 12 and 13 - had been drinking last week.
They live with their mother in Texas, but have been in Surprise to visit their dad this summer, according to family.
On Monday, Harvey allegedly forced the boys to stay in the backyard and drink shots of liquor, and they "weren't allowed to come back into the residence until they finished their shots," according to court paperwork.
But a neighbor heard screaming and called 911.
Police arrived to find the boys in their underwear, crying and screaming. And the oldest started to vomit before paramedics arrived.
They were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Harvey didn't want to go on camera but said he's just a "backwoods boy from Texas" who loves his kids and wanted to show them some tough love.
Harvey has been charged with two felony counts of child abuse, while his girlfriend Karen Edwards has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
