Man stabbed 10 times outside S. Phoenix Circle K; suspects on the loosePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Police are searching for the two men who stabbed 55-year-old several times outside a South Phoenix Circle K early Tuesday morning. The entire confrontation was caught on video.
It happened just after 3 a.m. at the Circle K on Buckeye Road on the west side of Seventh Street.
According to police, the victim stopped at the convenience store to gas up his pickup truck before heading to work.
The two suspects had been hanging around the store and approached the victim while he was at the pump, reportedly demanding his wallet.
The victim got into a struggle with the pair. It was during that scuffle that he was stabbed 10 times.
The suspects ran away from the Circle K and were last seen heading south. It's not yet clear if they actually took anything from the victim.
Investigators believe the men were after the victim's truck. They also say it's possible that the suspects were high on drugs.
Police searched the neighborhood but were unable to find the suspects. They do, however, believe the men might live in the area.
At this point, police do not have a good description of the suspects. All detectives know is that the suspects are Hispanic men in their early 20s. One was wearing a white shirt and black shorts. The other was wearing a red shirt and shorts.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital and into surgery. At last check, he was in serious condition but doctors said they expect him to recover.
Detectives are working with the owner of the Circle K to get surveillance video from camera on the building.
